Let's Go Not Fly a Kite!

But we tried.
At least my 2 sons did. The boys held it and tossed it and played out the string and each time the kite can crashing back to earth having barely lifted its wing. Turns out there was a spar broken, so the kite kept listing to the left and then dropping.

But you know what? We all had fun. We, meaning the girls and I, watched and laughed. The boys tried to fly the kite and laughed, and it was an couple of hours of chill time that we all needed.

Sometimes not doing is as good as doing. KWIM?

My Son Keeps Thttp://www.livejournal.com/stc/fck/editor/skins/silver/toolbar/link.gifelling me

I'm going to be one of those crazy cat ladies when all the kids have flown the nest.
Maybe I should ask this lady for some pointers....(I feel bad for her husband, I really do!)

Ode to Teenage Girls.

Argh. The artist is a teen. A real, identifiable teen. She is harassed by her younger sister (asking a question) teased into tears by her older brothers (telling her she is too sensitive) and annoyed by her mother who makes untoward demands upon her, as did the Queen of Snow White (pick up your stuff from the livingroom and put it away. Third day of asking)

Poor thing. She is to be pitied. She or is it me? Handed a glass of lemonade she turns it back into a lemon. Confronted by an inadequacy (I really need you to get to those dishes already. I'm a bit upset that I have had to ask you so much) she confesses her inherent evil. The world is against her, or she is against the world or maybe it is both, but ARGGGGGGGGGGGH...

It is going to be a lovely next six years.

And by then the Monkey will be in the midst of it to.

Insane asylum, here I come.

(no subject)

Met up with a friend today and headed out to Kever Rochel. This was my first time going there in all the years I have lived here, or visited (basically since 2000).

The experience was wonderful. I didn't realize how close it was to Jerusalem; really a hop skip and a jump away. The Kever is surrounded by walls and within a building to keep the terrorist away, and the bus drops us off and the door to the building is kept locked till the bus returns about a 1/2 later.

1/2 an hour is really not enough time to sit and pray and contemplate.

One odd thing; while we were there they blew shofar. I don't know if this is normal or something special was going on but I was glad to be there for it.

I said Tehilim for family and friends, and before I knew it the bus was back and we had to leave.

Then we went on to the Kotel. I love it there. I am always amazed at its beauty and how so many people, regardless of level of observance gather and pray. Each time I go I am overwhelmed with joy.

My next goal is to get out to Kever HaMachpalah...

(also read Rosemary's Baby. Not sure how they connect except I bought the book when I learned that my friend might not be able to meet the first bus to Kever Rochel and I might have had some time on my hands.)

Growth isn't cancerous, and he seems to be fine. Updates when available.

Quick Update

1. The oven is still broke, so we have no oven for Pesach. ARGHHHHHHHHH
2. Learned that friends in another community was deceiving us, as in all their neighbors. They claimed to be converts to Judaism, but they were messianics. They lied to the Rabbi's who converted them, lied to us...really made me sad.
3. Lost money do to a lost file. It is hard to explain, but I am basically a lead generator, and get paid by the correct lead. The data system of the place I work has a bug and therefore if the generated leads and the opportunities (to earn credit) aren't the same, I need to mark it and keep it on a separte file....and today, when I went to enter more information the file was nowhere to be found. We tried undelete, tried to search under different names. No luck. A months worth, and possibly a hundred or so dollars, is lost.
4. Food is basically done. YEAH.
5. Pesach is expensive, and we have really been trying to watch our costs. But we spent twice what we normally would. Friends have told me we had done pretty well...that they spent more.
6. I think I'm finally on the mend. At least I felt somewhat human today.
7. Anyone have a million dollars they want to donate to a good cause? Hey, I can only hope.
8. Ribat Chalav (dolche leche or actually carmel) is the best. I bought some for Pesach. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. But so bad for you.
9. We haven't had much to eat the last few days and what we have had to eat has probably been full of the worst fat you can consume. How many years of my life have a lost to palm oil? (Oh those Pesach cookies!!!!)
10. Chag Kasher V'Semach to all who celebrate!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

That's the visual representation of what I'm doing right now.
Because, guess what happened in the midst of my cleaning the stove?
Want a hint? Think FUSEBOX.
Something in the kitchen has a short. Could it be the stove to which I am giving so much attention? Could it be the microwave? Could it be the fact that I promised to make soup for a friend who just had a baby and NOW I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF WE WILL HAVE HOT FOOD FOR SHABBAT??????

Did you hear me scream? How could you have missed it.

How Does He Do It?

For a treat, try I'm sick, tired and worn out and didn't want to cook just for The Monkey and myself (The Artist went to a youth group and dh is working as per usual.)So the two of us went up the hill to fetch a couple of slices of pizza, plus some things from the store that we needed. It was suppose to be plus the mail but guess who left her keys at home?

Anyway, we ordered two slices, made fresh, and as the pizza was cooking I wondered.

HOW DOES HE MAKE ANY MONEY????
Our Yishuv isn't that big; maybe 2000 families between us, and our sister community up the hill. There are a lot of poor folks, there are a lot of just making it people, there aren't a heck of a lot of people who go out regularly for pizza, at least I don't expect there are.

But, I guess he is doing okay, 'cause he is still here.

Which I'm mighty happy about seeing as how I didn't want to cook today.

Computers Were Invented To Drive Me Crazy!

Or my 2 week absence explained by bad computers.

We bought two new computers from a particular company and have had problems with them from day one. One problem after another; and the company would only tell us "bring them in". Well bringing them in meant schlepping on two busses into the city. Okay, so that is our fault for not having a car (or less sarcastically said they can't help it that we don't have a car) but still...once, maybe, but my dh had to go in twice in one week for his computer and they still weren't able to fix it.

So he calls a lawyer, and the lawyer writes a letter and we get action (we think). The company sends someone to pick up the computer. Fine. He can only come on Mondays. Okay. So three days pass, no word. Four days pass, no word. Finally the next Monday dh calls and says "well?????"

"OH...What was the matter with your computers?"

Two weeks computer-less. Two weeks where I couldn't do work, and dh couldn't do his work. I'm ready to explode.

SOOOO we get them back, and my dh's computer is a bit finicky but we seem to be okay.

Then we blow the router trying to figure out why we weren't getting the speed we should have been getting from our service provider. Dh had to schelp in and get a new one.

Finally I think everything is up and running. Right in time for me to have no time as I'm getting ready for Pesach.

Well that's going well at least.

Meantime, I'm sick, dh is sick, dd is sick and ds had to go back to the army sick. And I'm having company this Shabbat, and I had to say no to having a friend this past Shabbat because life has just been crazy (feel really guilty about that as well, but as it turns out it worked out for the best because, like I said, we were all sick).

Okay, what good has been happening? A friend (penpal) from England will be coming in...she's not Jewish, so she is coming in for Easter I expect (which is when?) so I'm going to try and meet her if I can. She isn't certain we can meet up as her schedule is pretty full.

I'm reading a lot. Flashman (has anyone read him?) Lorna Doone (loving that one) a book by Rabbi Slifkin and another on Torah and Science.

Esther has decided what to learn next year for science and history; she wants to learn about textiles: a lot of good learning can come from that. History of clothing, science on how processing affects material etc. etc. Now just to find the material I'll need.

Anyway I need to go back to work. Or sleep. I've finished my paying job and just have to decided between giving into my sick feeling body or do more Pesach cleaning.

Fun life.

This is Who We Had For Shabbat!

Actually we have had a full couple of weeks. Several weeks back we had, much to my joy, Chana Meira . She hasn't posted for sometime now (I know, let the poor lady move in!)We had a lovely visit.

And then this past Shabbat we had this young man at our table. How To Measure The Years . What a pleasurable young man. My youngest demanded the "seat of honor" right next to our guest. He was charming and intelligent, and he loves cats! We had a lovely afternoon.

I really enjoy having Shabbat guests. I'm always so worried about it because we aren't what you would call house beautiful; more like house messy. I rush around whenever visitors are expected and try and get the house to at least semi-decent. BUT, I am a pretty decent cook. I suppose that makes up for things.

History of Sudoku.

Okay, I haven't been posting much because I've been caught up in the Sudoku craze. I have come to the conclusion that the history of sudoku has nothing to do with dell the Japanses or magic square problems.

No Sudoku, Samuri Sudoku, Killer Sudoku and the rest are actually a devious plot by aliens to infect our minds and keep us occupied while they take over the earth. They are designed with subliminal cues to keep us busy, paper and pencil or on the computer, and not look up to see what these fiends are doing in our world.

Even as I type these sinister beings are trying to strip us of our molten lava. (okay, it was the first thing that came to mind). They bathe in it...give me a break. So they are taking it away and soon our earth will be deprived of this beautiful substance that makes the earth so green.

And all because of sudoku.

You have been warned.

(and my house is a mess and I haven't put away laundry all week. But it is the aliens I tell you and not my fault at all.)

Sooooo

If I want to get an Emperor Penguin to dance I need to withhold its food? (And have his papa drop him as an egg.)

Okay, I'm fairly certain that wasn't the message Happy Feet was subscribing to...not that it was a bad movie. It was pretty cute, though I prefer cars, and it did give me some bonding time with the deprived Monkey. Her sister and her brother get to go to NESTO with friends. And she, alas and alack is to young. But, the lucky duck, does get to spend quality time with mama.

Which meant helping me with a Sudoku puzzle and watching a movie together and some cuddle time and then to bed.

Ah the pleasures of having a little one.

They are all growing so fast. I can't believe I have a baby of almost 8.

I'm almost 49, and I tell you it just ain't fair! My being 49 and my baby being almost 8....I keep telling them, I never gave you permission to grow.

Life's Little Doings

Well our guest has come and gone. It was a great time, I hope had by all. The Monkey had tons of fun with her, The Artist barely said ten sentence, and the Artist's friend clearly made an impression on her. We had some great talks. I met her via blogging and the Terri Schiavo case; she isn't blogging at the moment, but when she starts again I'll link to her here. She is a great writer.

Things are going back to noraml here; after visitors and Dina's Return. Dina the Cat and Midnight are once again friends. Dina I think has already put on weight, her eye has cleared up, without anti-biotics or medicines, and she tried to get out of the house today! (Hasn't she learned her lesson????). Right now she is snoozing in the heat from a radiator, Midnight is keeping me company on top of the computer, her favorite place.

The house is very quiet. Boys are in the army, oldest is back home, dh is upstairs (he finally woke up...but the guy works nights, so it isn't being lazy.) The Monkey is in school and the Artist is out with a friend touring a school (for the friend, not for herself.) Afterwards she is off to see HAPPY FEET She likes Penguins and music so I hope it flies with her--- it isn't the music she grew up with and from my understanding kids don't really get it. But it is a day off, filled with junk food and just hanging about so she should be pretty happy.

Dh is attaching this nifty hold the paper so you can see it without out having to twist yourself into all kinds of wacky positions thingee for me onto the computer. Luckily the box just readsd MONITOR MOUNT DOCUMENT HOLDER on it and not my name for it or else we would have to pay twice as much just to cover the writing. Anyway, it will make my work so much easier so I'm happy.

I'm doing a pretty good job of avoiding cleaning the house. Which does not make me happy. I really have to get to work on it. Just keep seeing what still has to be done and I get despondent. There must be somewher Fly Lady drop outs can get help.

That about sums up that.
